Synopsis

1920s Drama with Sci-Fi Undertones

A young socialite of old money must reconcile with the fact that the world isn’t what she was taught. With new industries on the rise, Edith is presented with the solution to save her family’s floundering company. From a passionate inventor comes the business deal of a lifetime, a partnership between his robust portfolio of prototypes and her resource-wealthy network. Together they can get Alton’s new invention into the homes of investors: the Electric Solid-Tech Robot (ESTR). In the face of techincal delays, sabotages, and ethical dilemas, is putting ESTR on the market really the right choice?

Character Descriptions

Young New York City socialite, born heir to the Oscar family fortune. The Oscar Railroad Company has been the industry leader for more than a century. In the last decade though, sales have been declining as the company refuses to change with the times. Only Edith can save it now, for the good of her family and her fortune.
An inventor with a dream. He moved to New York City with a portfolio case of sketches, ideas, and some semi-functioning prototypes. When he happens upon Edith in a chance meeting, he shows her his work in hopes of gaining an investor. She decides to strike a deal with his one-man company, Solid-Tech.
Alton’s greatest invention yet. A humanoid industrial robot designed to be an at-home assistant. She can protect against home invaders, file your taxes, clean your bathroom, or cook you food. As Alton and Edith develop her, she develops a personality of her own. ESTR’s quick-witted nature gives Edith pause as she considers the ethics of commercializing her.
